GARY SINISE PLAYS BASS IN LT. DAN BAND

LT DAN BAND

Multi-talented actor Gary Sinise earned an Oscar nomination for playing an over-the-top Vietnam War officer in "Forrest Gump." Now he plays bass in a group named for that character, the Lt. Dan Band. And their efforts are almost exclusively aimed at aiding veterans, the military community and first responders.

Sinise and the band fit a couple gigs a month into his busy schedule, with proceeds going to the Gary Sinise Foundation and its R.I.S.E. program. "We want to empower our wounded heroes and support their independence in their own homes," says the actor/bassist/activist.

Let's hear it for him.

The trick is to have extremely focused, specific goals every time you walk into your practice space. Decide what part of the song should be your focus, and know what you’re trying to master.   (read more)
