JEAN-SEBASTIEN BACH SUITES IV & V - VOLUME 2

No reviews

Originally, these now world-famous Suites were composed for cello. There is no known autograph of the pieces in Bach’s own hand, but two manuscript copies – one from the 1730s, by Anna Magdalena, Bach’s second wife, the other by Johann Peter Kellner, a Thuringen organist and a pupil of Bach’s are considered authoritative. Anna Magdalena’s hand is so similar to her husband’s that some musicologists actually think she wrote the title-page only, in which case that manuscript would be the original version of the Suites as for the second manuscript, dated 1726, it is less widely known and differs much from the former. 20 pages. MASTERING THE BOW PART 1

The goal of this book is to help Bassists expand their tonal vocabularies; to learn to make a wide variety of colors and shapes with music. The left hand makes no sound; it is the bow that creates articulations, rhythms, and rises and falls within a phrase. Using the famous Franz Wolfahrt Studies for Violin as the basis, Gaelen McCormick has selected and edited these etudes to teach and reinforce bowing techniques for the Bass. It is a never before seen collection that will greatly enhance the pedagogical repertoire for the instruction of the Bass. All Bassists should have this as part of their study materials. MY FIRST SIMANDL: FOR THE DEVELOPING DOUBLE-BASS STUDENT

No reviews

My First Simandl preserves the original intent and musical/educational objectives that Franz Simandl set forth in his etude books New Method for the Double Bass, Vol. 1 and Thirty Etudes for the String Bass. Many of the exercises are exactly as they are in the original books. However, there are areas where the studies started at a level of difficulty, which made it unrealistic for use by young players. Consequently, some of the etudes in My First Simandl have been shortened in length or have had note values doubled. The studies have been arranged in progressive order, taking into account tonality, grade of difficulty and style. Rosen and Eckfeld have chosen studies that are considered to be the most important for student at the earlier stages of technical development. Included are duet exercises for the student and teacher – a proven approach to better learning!

Based on the success of the Protocol: A Guide to the Collegiate Audition Process series for woodwind and brass players, Carl Fischer Music is proud to announce new books in the series for string players. Providing useful reference and audition material for college-bound string players, the completely unique Protocol series was created by college/university music educators Larry Clark, Daniel Schmidt, Doris Gazda, Joel DiBartolo, and Richard Hughey, and includes the most frequently requested audition requirements from many universities. Not only does it help build a player’s repertoire, but it also exposes students to the expectations of the audition process, creating a comfort level that allows for the best audition possible. Protocol is incredibly useful for all student players, and especially so for directors or parents of students without private teachers; giving instructions on everything from how to dress for the audition to follow-up after the audition takes place. Students will go into their auditions completely prepared with help from this series. Written in Standard Notation only (NO TAB). 39 pages.
