The idea of solo bass is still fairly new. And although there are many more bass players writing music for solo bass, (thanks to the influence of players such as Michael Manring and Victor Wooten), I feel that there is still a shortage of transcribed music available. When I first began getting into playing solo bass one of the biggest challenges I encountered was finding transcribed music to learn. Usually I was forced into arranging music that was meant for cello, piano, guitar or other instruments. This was great learning experience, but I am a bass player and wanted to play music that was intended for my instrument. Over the past few years I received many requests for transcriptions of my solo pieces and was encouraged to publish this book. The songs transcribed explore the use of two-handed tapping, harmonics, chords, altered tunings, counterpoint and other “alternative” techniques. It is complete with standard notation, tablature and performance notes for each piece.
