Great! (3/8/2010)
I bought this book a few years ago and have been using it for practicing and teaching since.
It''s probably the best "allround" bass book that I know. Alexis tries to cover many different techniques and styles in this book, and usually you would think that doesn''t work - it does.
However, it''s only fair to say if you are looking for something specific (e.g. improvisation, jazz-soloing, walking, slap bass etc.), this book can only offer an overview (nevertheless a very good one). It''s obvious that one book can not cover all the aspects of bass playing in a real profound way.
But if you''re looking for a "general" book on bass, it''s this one. Lots of material even for advanced players.
Shame there''s no CD.

Bass Playing Techniques (8/19/2005)
Comprehensive review of technique and styles. Same author as The Slap Bass Program. Will keep both in my bass library forever.
